Book club without the cake

Not every prop starts as plastic — some start with real, unsellable hardback books from local charity shops.

We rescue books that would otherwise be discarded, remove the inner pages (saving them for decoupage and scenic detail if beautiful text and weathered), and repurpose the covers to create authentic prop books for set dressing. The insides of these books are normally offcuts of lightweight polystyrene saved from the skip, with appropriate FR Idendum and scenic finish.

This circular approach means fewer materials go to waste, and every production (that needs books!) benefits from a piece of green theatre craftsmanship.
