A small but challenging build for Edinburgh Fringe. An event that requires speed in fit up and break down between shows, with on average 30 minutes change over time and that time is for both productions to work, ie one stage crew getting one out and a different stage crew fitting up the next set . This has historically meant simple sets and simple designs.

The design for Hot Mess broke the rules of ‘simple’ and provided us with a giant jigsaw puzzle that needed structurally integrity, speed of build, and compact design. The set constructed with box steel and wood broke down into small manageable sections that when put back together in order went up swiftly and successfully. In keeping with the overall musical story of ‘Hot Mess’ an environmental love story and its impact on the planet we were able to repurpose wood from an old set to help with Green book status.
